Photosynthesis and Respiration

      The photosynthesis is a process used by plants to convert light into energy to fuel the organism in every moment. Photosynthesis is important for the world because it is the responsible to producing and maintaining the oxygen at the Earth's atmosphere.

6CO2 + 6H2O ------> C6H12O6 + 6O2

CO2: carbon dioxide

H2O: water

Light energy is necessary
C6H12O6: glucose
O2: oxigen

The cellular respiration is a set of metabolic reactions that take place in the cells of organisms to convert energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate, ATP (the biochemical way to store and use energy).

C6H12O6 + 6O2 ------> 6CO2 + 6H2O + energy

The equation of these  two process are similar because both are necessary water, oxygen, carbon dioxide… and both of these reactions produce energy.

QUIZ, "HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THESE REACTIONS?"

1. Which reaction needs glucose?
  1. Cellular respiration
  2. Photosynthesis
  3. Both
2. Which reaction produces water?

3. What is the photosynthesis?
  1. Who knows
  2. A process used by plants
  3. A process used by cells

Bioindicators

A bioindicator is organism that give us a clue of the health of its ecosistem Some organisms are very sentive to pollution in their environmet, so if pollutans are present, the organims may change its morphologypysiology or behaviour, or it could even die.

The mycroalga isn't usual, is an excellent bioindicator organism and it's very sensitive to any change in ecosystem. Staurastrum arctiscon lives in acid waters without organic matter like in the Black Loch in Soria.

Another living bioindicator is Tabellaria however this it’s very common and it’s an excellent bioindicator in aquatic systems.

There are more living bioindicators like Tradescantia, it is too sensitive to pollution from automobile and factory gases.

Our Water Footprint

This is a bar graph of our total water footprint, the average of water that we used during a year.
The first column shows the average of water that we used during a year in food. The second shows the quantity of domestic (washing machine, wash disher, the garden…). The third column is the water in the  industry for example, to manufacture objects. The last column indicates the total of the average that we consume during a year, 1074 cubic meter.

There are three water footprints:

*Green water footprint. Is water from precipitation that is stored on the floor and then it evaporates. It is important at the farmings.

*Blue water footprint. Is the water that we get from the underground , then the water evaporates. Then, the water is incorporated in one body and then it goes to another. The blue water footprint is at the irrigated agriculture, industry and in the domestic use.

*Blue water footprint. Is the quantity of sweet water necessary to assimilate pollutants to meet specific water quality standards.

Water Culture and Art

The Cliff Walk at Pourville
Painted in 1882 by the French painter Claude Monet.

Claude Monet was born in 1840 at Paris and he died in 1926. He was a founder of French Impressionist painting. He usually used the plein-air landscape painting, it is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. It was painted with an oil technique on canvas.
In our opinion this painting has a straight-forward relation with water because it reflects two people staring at the sea. The Cliff Walk at Pourville projects serenity and relax.
With this painting we want to showe that water is important for the life of all living beings because it is the base for our planet and for all the things we do.
